Meet the Bloggers

Dawn M. Smith is an Army spouse, mom to a high schooler, and a senior Golden Retriever. The dog isn’t the only senior in the house, though. Somehow, Dawn is now considered a senior spouse thanks to her husband’s 20+ years of military service. She’s owned a writing and consulting business for 15 years. The content she writes focuses on military life, real estate, and home topics. Dawn’s family lives in the National Capital Region, and they work on their DC bucket list as much as possible.

Kristi Stolzenberg is slowly accepting that she’s now on the seasoned side of the military spouse spectrum, having written about military life since 2008. In that time, she and her C-130-flying Marine added two stellar military kids to the mix and called four bases home. After making good use of her B.A. in English, Kristi finished her master’s in political management in 2018. On a typical day, you’ll find her juggling everything from editing to soccer practice, volunteering to board meetings.

Lizann Lightfoot is a Marine Corps wife, mom of five and author of the book Welcome to Rota. She has been writing for years as the “Seasoned Spouse,” a blog with resources and encouragement for military families. Alongside her husband, she has completed 7 deployments and 6 PCS moves (including one assignment overseas). When she isn’t writing, she enjoys exploring new areas and, of course, chocolate.
